Bontrase Senior High Technical School was established to bring second cycle education closer to the people of Bontrase and over twenty-two surrounding communities. The idea was conceived during a meeting held on 16th July, 2014 at Awutu Bontrase through the efforts of key stakeholders including Hon. Sampson Abbey Armah, Madam Anna Belinda Baidoo, Mr. Nyarko, the Bontrase Area Council, and community elders.
Since its establishment, the school has grown into a center that combines academic excellence with practical skills training, preparing students to become responsible citizens and contributors to national development.

The idea to establish the school was conceived on 16th July, 2014 to bring secondary education closer to Bontrase and surrounding communities.
The school started academic work under the leadership of the first Headmistress, Madam Kate Selina Conduah, with 102 Free SHS students and 19 continuing students.
The school saw leadership transitions from Mr. Benjamin Ohene Nyarko to Mr. Eugene Mfum Mensah, who led until his retirement in July 2025, contributing significantly to the school's development.
Mr. Joseph Kwasi Tornyenyor took over as Headmaster on 6th January, 2026 and continues to lead the school towards greater excellence.
